ABOUT BOY UNDERGROUND

Our driving force behind this project is the urgent need for better representation of neurodiversity in cinema. Autistic individuals are a significant part of our society, and it’s high time their stories are told with authenticity and empathy.  Hugo’s character is at the centre of our story, allowing us to explore his distinct viewpoint and emphasise his skills, obstacles, and, most importantly, unshakable resolve. Hugo’s character can serve as a powerful symbol of hope and resilience for autistic individuals and their families, showcasing that, just like anyone else, they can embark on incredible adventures and form deep, meaningful friendships. The story of Hugo, Julie, and Alex is a tale of reconciliation, personal growth, and the extraordinary power of genuine connections.
